Great Expectations 2030 Community Advisory Group (CAG) and Caucuses
A master plan is a process as well as a document. Collaborative planning involves interaction between citizens, knowledgeable community leaders, and expert professionals. A core platform for community learning and deliberation is the Great Expectations 2030 Community Advisory Group (CAG), some 35 persons who bring substantial knowledge of and involvement in key sectors of community life in Shreveport – Caddo. Elected officials and members of the Metropolitan Planning Commission are ineligible to serve on the CAG.
Members of the CAG have been chosen through a modified democratic process, advised by Goody Clancy and involving informal topical caucuses of persons with shared interests. Each caucus was asked to choose 2-6 delegates to represent those interests on the CAG. While the CAG is limited in size, there is no limit on the size of caucuses. They are informal and are self-convening. CAG delegates are expected to convene their caucus periodically and communicate with them regularly. The intent of having caucuses is to expand the network of those actively involved in the plan, in hopes that they will evolve into strong constituencies and partners for implementation of its recommendations Elected officials and members of the Metropolitan Planning Commission are ineligible to serve on the CAG.
The CAG will soon be complete, and a list of CAG members will be posted here: on the Community Advisory Group page.
The CAG will meet approximately 10 times during the planning process. The role of CAG is advisory and they will strive for consensus. Should consensus not emerge easily, voting will take place. A brief summary of discussion will be posted on the website after each CAG meeting.
All CAG meetings are open to the public, and a portion of each meeting is set aside for public comment. For the schedule of meeting times, locations, click here to view the calendar.
Great Expectations Working Group Meetings
Persons with deep knowledge of key topics (such as transportation or water and sewer) will be invited to participate in small working groups, to advise the consultants on technical aspects of the plan. Like the name implies, these groups will be asked to roll up their sleeves, write, review and edit technical components of the plan document. Each Working Group will be chaired by a member of the CAG. Working Group meetings are open to the public. For locations, times, dates, click here to view the calendar.
Public Presentations and Hearings
Over the course of the planning process, the consultants will make presentations to city and parish boards and other groups. For locations, dates and times, click here to view the calendar.
Documents for Review
